Auckland City Council meeting

Special Notice.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TO SHOW

AUCKLAND CITY COUNCIL THAT...

Onehunga Matters!

In February this year we asked for your support by turning up at the Auckland City Council Meeting to help show Auckland City Council we care about what is happening to Onehunga.

  IT WORKED...

They started listening BUT...

We need to do it again.

On Thursday Onehunga's issues are being discussed at the City Development Committee Meeting. At the conclusion of this meeting TOES has no further formal involvement in Transits Outline Plan other than seeking a judicial review in the High Court. Auckland City Council has to provide Transit with its recommendations by Monday 18th August 2008.

Lets remind them its about US not THEM and ...

WE DO CARE.

ARC

The articles recently published make it look as if ARC is  committed to investing in the Onehunga foreshore. In fact the trench was raised as a favoured option 18 months ago but after much discussion was dismissed as it became obvious that we could not achieve this. Transit refused to commit funds to it, and the current plan is a lower cost alternative arrived at after many meetings and plans, all of which ARC were advised of.

ARC members and chairman have stated they will not put any money into improving the foreshore / reserve / waterfront access, in spite of NZTA and ACC commitment to do so if ARC will. ARC is effectively blocking any progress.

At this stage any proposal for sinking the motorway will not make it happen - they will probably halt all hard-won progress over the last 18 months and leave Onehunga with the original Transit plan.

One ARC member has advised that "it is too late to help what is now an 'industrial' area"

As a resident of very pleasant residential street in this area I imagine other residents of Normans Hill Rd, Beachcroft Rd, Arthur St, Pleasant St, Jackson St etc will be equally insulted and wonder just what these ARC members know of our city south of Newmarket, and how much interest they actually have in the very important issues of Onehunga and neighbouring suburbs.
